Sewing
The sewing room is where we sew our accessories, cushion covers and some of our garments.
There are three of us involved in sewing-related activities. Most of the work is done by Danielle, who works with us two days a week. A trained pattern cutter and costume designer she has worked as production co-ordinator, garment technologist and quality controller in the textile industry as well as running her own corsetry business. At Skye Weavers she sews our cushions, ponchos, shoulder bags and more, and helps us develop new ideas. Danielle also oversees the gilets that we outsource to specialist London manufacturers to ensure everything meets our stringent quality standards.
Over the last few years Angie has been patiently sewing our labels onto scarves, throws and more, and helping with lots of other sewing room things as well. Andrea used to do most of the sewing, but now only does the occasional stint, usually on her favourite piece of kit: the button holer.
