GoNORTH is an annual Scottish creative industry festival in the ‘capital of the Highlands’- Inverness. The two day festival provides an excellent meeting platform for aspiring creatives and experienced professionals in the music industry, publishing, film and textiles/fashion. Even though it’s in the midst of the busy season, it’s an event I didn’t want to miss (and that wasn’t just due to thoughts of pizza at the Bella Italia).
I went along to two workshops organised by Hi~Arts. The first one was all about making your business visible, in the virtual as well as in the real world. There were presentations by artists, makers, bloggers, web designers and other creative enthusiasts. Everyone had a different angle and it was great to be able to talk to other makers about their experiences of running a business in remote areas of the Highlands and Islands.
Apart from attending the workshop, HI~Arts also gave us the opportunity to have 3 of our products photographed by professional photographer Shannon Tofts. We are really lucky to have a very good photographer just a couple of miles from where we are on Skye, but it was fascinating to watch Shannon and get another insight into the world of product photography.
More next week, including my musical performance on a vegetable keyboard piano.
